Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love the changing of the seasons and all the colors of autumn. I also love decorating for fall. About the first week of September I start getting anxious to change out my wreath on my front door. This year, I used the same grapevine wreath on my door and simply changed out the flowers to make this stunning DIY fall wreath.
Grapevine wreaths are fantastic because they are the perfect canvas for a beautiful wreath for any season. I loved my spring wreath and I changed it just a bit for the summer months. Now that fall is approaching, I changed it yet again.

DIY Fall Wreath
I began by taking off all of my spring/summer flowers. I kept the bow because a burlap bow works for every season. Next I laid out all of my fall floral stems to see what I had and decide what I wanted to use. If you want to simply change out the floral stems on your wreath, don’t use glue to hold the flowers in place, but instead, use floral wire. Play around with what you have and place it where you want it on your wreath. Once you have the pieces where you want them, begin to fasten them to the wreath with the floral wire. Nothing is permanent when using floral wire, so if you are unhappy with how your wreath looks, you can change things around easily.
DIY Tip
I usually work on my wreath on a table in my garage. As I’m working on it, every once-in-a-while I hang the wreath on the wall in the garage to see how it looks. This way, I can step back and get a good view of the wreath. If something is off, I can see it easily and change it before it is hanging on my front door.
Use what you have or even use a mix of real and fake decorations. For this DIY fall wreath, I used mostly fake flowers that I bought at Michael’s (they have great deals on floral stems, especially if you have a 20% off coupon!). I also used corn tassels from my father-in-law’s farm. The corn tassel is the top of the corn stalk; it is the fertilizer of the plant. Once these dry, they are fantastic to use as decorations. If you have a corn farm close by, ask the farmer if you can cut some of the tassels. By the time they are dried, they are useless to the plant, so it is perfectly fine to cut them off (with permission, of course).
