Hello there! Are you a fan of tiered trays? Or spend time on Pinterest gawking at the most BEAUTIFUL tiered trays? Then this is the post for you. Today I will share four tips for creating a gorgeous tiered tray.
What I love about tiered trays is that you can change them out seasonally. This is such a simple way to constantly change out decor without a ton of effort. It takes a lot to change out an entire mantle or entryway table, but changing out a tiered tray is fun and simple!

Let’s jump right in, shall we?
Pick a Theme
The first tip is to pick a theme. This can be seasonal like Halloween or Christmas. I have also made tiered trays that are Farmhouse or Beach theme. You can even pick a color to be the theme. Pick one theme to be the starting point of decorating your tiered tray.
Here’s a list of ideas to get you started: Farmhouse, White Winter, Traditional Christmas, Colorful Christmas, Fall, Halloween, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Gardening, Spring, Summer, Beach, Sea Shells, Coastal, Nautical, Back-To-School, Football (or any sport), Vegetable or Fruit, Dog or Cat, Books, Valentines, Boho, Black & White.
Add Height
The second tip is to add height. You’ll be limited to add height on the lower trays, but don’t be scared to add taller items on the top of the tiered tray. I have also been know to add taller items next to my tiered tray. Not everything on the tiered tray needs to be miniature.
Use a Variety of Textures
Here’s where you can get creative and design eye-catching tiered trays. Use a variety of textures. I like to use glass, greenery, and wood in almost all of my seasonal tiered trays. By using different textures, you create a visual appealing tiered tray with depth and character. Use battery-operated candles, or fairy lights to add some warmth. You can use fabric to add a cozy feeling to a winter or fall tray. I love using things like berries and holly in my Christmas tiered trays.
Reusable Items
This is my thrifty tip! Use reusable items. Like I mentioned, I love changing out my tiered tray often, so I reuse a bunch of items. I use Chalk Couture removable chalk paste on a lot of my items so that I can simply wipe off the paste and use it again. For instance, I generally always have a white coffee mug or white creamer on my tiered tray. I can easily wipe off the design with a Board Eraser and chalk another design for the next season. This means, I can reuse the item, but the design changes, making it a unique piece for each tray theme.
