So let me start by telling you the story of the tree. We have always bought live Christmas trees. Well, let’s be honest, once it is cut it is a dying tree. So last year, we bought two. One for our front porch and one for inside. Check out my Christmas home tour from last Christmas. The tree inside was completely dead within two weeks. The needles were everywhere and the branches were all hanging down. It was the most pathetic tree ever. Thank Goodness we had the tree on the porch! We moved the porch tree inside into our sunroom , undecorated the dead tree and decorated the better-looking tree that had been outside for two weeks.
PINT IT ⇓
This year, I talked my husband into an artificial tree for our sunroom. Too many stories of bug-infested trees and the hassle of last year sealed the deal. We bought a tree from Home Depot, got it home, out of the box, put together and then I turned on the lights. My youngest son immediately exclaimed…”Wow, Mommy! Purple Lights!”. The lights were supposed to be “warm white” but since they were LED, they looked purple/blueish. My husband agreed with our 3-year old, poured my a cocktail and asked if we could return it. Back into the box it went and back to Home Depot we went. We ended up buying basically the exact same tree from Lowes, but with incandescent lights instead of the LED lights.
Needless to say, after putting up three trees (we have a Disney tree upstairs between the boys’ rooms) I was done! See the Disney tree here. I decided to keep it SUPER simple this year.
Vintage Christmas Tree
I was inspired to do this tree in a vintage-look after making a Chalk Couture sign with red, teal and white.
To achieve the vintage Christmas look using teal, red and white decor, I started with a thick red ribbon. What I love about this ribbon, is that it is the same on both sides. This way, It can be curled and twisted throughout the tree and you don’t have to worry about the “good” side showing.
Next, I added three shades of blue/teal shatterproof-glitter ornaments. I love Shatterproof Christmas Ornaments because the boys could help put them on the tree. I didn’t have to worry about the ornaments breaking and glass getting all over our floors.
We do plan to add a few family ornaments and I would also like to add some white snow berries or these fun white fruit berry stems just to add some pops of white to the tree!
I’m really enjoying the simplicity of the tree this year. I feel so far behind on decorating since we have been having work done on our house and I have not had an opportunity to decorate until this past week. I still need to get my wreaths up, the mantle decorated and all of our nativities out.

What a beautiful tree! I love the teal with the red and white. I would never have thought to do that color scheme, but it totally works! Not having to clean up pine needles for the next year after you put it away is another bonus 🙂 I’m a recent convert to artificial trees, too 🙂

We bought real trees or years too and finally bought a fake one for the same reasons. Your tree is really pretty and I think keeping the decorations to a minimum really showcases it.

I love the vintage colors on your tree! And that sign is perfect. I am with you on the shatter proof ornaments too. I’ve had more than my share of sweeping up broken glass. I’m over that. Merry Christmas!

Wow! Your tree is fantastic and oh so beautiful. I love how you placed the ornaments into the tree and kept the limbs empty.
Michelle from Weekend Craft says
I love it! You can tell it was inspired by you Chalk Couture sign. I do love that truck all my CC friends have it popping up in their feed.
Donna @ Modern on Monticello says
I have a lot of teal colors on my retro tree too and the color is beautiful. I will have to remember about the color of the LED lights when I buy a new tree this year at the end of the season. Thanks for sharing.
