Hey Hey! Chances are, you are a Cricut user and the Design Space updates have you feeling frustrated! I feel you! Whenever technology updates and makes changes, I also get frustrated. Why change something that is working fine? I completely understand that learning Design Space takes time and a lot of investment. Once you figure out how to do something and master it, they go and change it and you are basically starting over from scratch. It is FRUSTRATING! Add to that, the new limitation that will only allow you to upload 20 images max per month unless you are subscribing to access which is an additional monthly fee! **Update**Cricut has reversed their decision to limit uploads to 20 images per month.
If Design Space has you frustrated and you are mad at Cricut, I have an alternative. A couple of years ago, I jumped into a new craft and I have not looked back. In fact, I can count on one hand how many times I have plugged in my Cricut machine. I do not miss it AT ALL! I’m making more money now than I ever did making crafts with my Cricut. Read all about why I closed my Etsy shop here.
So what’s the secret? Chalk Couture! You may have heard of Chalk Couture, but if not…START HERE. Chalk Couture makes self-adhesive, silk screen stencils, removable chalk paste, permanent ink, surfaces and accessories. They all work together to allow creators to make all kinds of beautiful home decor and crafts.
When I first started using Chalk Couture, I wasn’t sure how much I would actually use it since it is pre-made stencils (which are called transfers) and I was used to creating my own designs in Cricut Design Space. To my surprise, I actually preferred using the pre-made transfers. It is actually REALLY fun to mix and match the different designs to create a custom project. There are also a few fonts, to create personalized projects as well. I truly did not feel limited when using Chalk Couture’s transfers.
Now with the restrictions and limitations on Cricut Design Space, I am so glad I have a huge collection of Chalk Couture transfers. Not only because I can basically create anything I want for any season, but I’m not having to deal with technology!
If you are like me and a little older, you might get frustrated with technology and want to go all “office space” on your laptop sometimes. (remember that scene from “Office Space” when they destroyed the printer in the field? That’s how I feel with my printer most of the time!).
With the constant glitches in Design Space, the unreliability of the program, the slow load times and now the limitations, it is a GREAT time to try out a new craft. I bet you will love it! There is no need to invest in an expensive machine. Using Chalk Couture over my Cricut is easier and faster. I actually did a little test a while back. I created a sign using my Cricut and timed myself. From creating the image in Design Space, to painting the sign, it took me 36 minutes. I then set my timer on my phone and made 16 Chalk couture projects in 36 minutes! Can you image making 16 times the amount of projects in the same amount of time?!
If you are interested in trying out Chalk Couture, you can CLICK HERE to purchase a try-me-kit. For around $20, you can test it out, and I am certain you will love how easy it is to use.
