Well hello there! I’m Allison and today I am sharing how to make a Fall Door Hanger. This is a simple project with lots of potential to make it your own an customize it. The great thing about this sign is no expensive machines are necessary to make this gorgeous DIY fall door hanger.
I made this the other day live over on Facebook. If you are on Facebook, I’d love for you to join me weekdays at lunch- 12:30 (ish) Eastern. I go live during lunch to bring a little crafting inspiration to the middle of your day! Check out my FB page HERE.
Let’s start with what supplies you need. All of the supplies I used can be found in my shop and you can grab them all HERE.
What You Need to Make a Fall Door Hanger
How To Make a Fall Door Hanger
Start by marking off the section you want to paint. I love the look of a color block in one section of a round sign. It gives the sign more personality! Use painters take to create a boundary of where you will paint.
I knew I wanted the eucalyptus color to be under the word “HELLO”, so I measured how tall the letters were and based my color block section on the size of the word.
If you have never worked with Chalk paste, you will love it. You can water if down and use it as paint, or use it with a squeegee with Chalk Couture stencils (called transfers). For this project, simply water down the paste and use it to paint the section you want color blocked.
Next, remove the painters tape and allow the paste to dry. It only takes a couple of minutes! Next, apply the transfer. Use the white paste and apply it with a squeegee to the large “HELLO” stencil. Peel the transfer immediately to reveal the word.
After the “HELLO” is dry (again, this only takes a couple of minutes), apply the stencil that has the word “pumpkin” and apply the white chalk paste with a squeegee and carefully peel the transfer.

Finally, hot glue some greenery and a bow to finish the Fall Door Hanger. Like I mentioned before, the great thing about this sign is that you can customize the colors to match your style and there is no need to have a fancy vinyl-cutting machine.
