We just got back from our wonderful Disney trip and this is the post I have been dying to get up on my blog! If you follow me on Instagram you saw a ton of Instagram stories of our experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land. Check out my post on how we found out about the secret to riding Slinky Dog Dash without a Fastpass.
It’s not really a big secret, just not heavily promoted. Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land allows guests to get into Hollywood Studios before the park opens and ride all the rides in Toy Story Land. They also feed you a delicious breakfast and the characters (Woody, Buzz and Jesse) are available to meet as well.

So you want to know what we thought of Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land?
WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.
Seriously, looking back at our trip, that morning was our favorite! So here’s the skinny.
First of all, the Early Morning Magic says it goes from 7:30-9am. BUT you can get in the park and eat breakfast EARLIER than that! No need to waste time eating when you can spend the entire hour and a half ridning Slinky Dog Dash…am I right!?
We arrived at the park about 6:40am and walked right in. They give you a wristband (similar to the ones for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Christmas Party).
Breakfast
The only part of the park that is open that early is the ABC Commissary. We had been told the breakfast was at Woody’s Lunchbox, but it is not. When you walked in the Commissary, they had a special menu. They even had a seperate kids menu. The menu was WAY fancier than we had expected. The food was fantastic! I had shrimp and grits and my husband had the Mexican Cilaquiles bowl. They also had tables set up with pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, milk, juice and coffee.
We were so impressed by the breakfast. It was delicious and you didn’t have to wait. There were enough tables around the commissary to walk up to get more pastries and milk without having to wait in line.
We didn’t know the breakfast was being served early, my husband just wanted to arrive early to get in line. Had we known, we would have gotten there right at 6:30am. It is not advertised at all that you can get into the park and eat before 7:30 am. So this is your insider tip! Get in early and eat first, then use the entire hour and a half to ride rides!
Around 7:15 we walked out to get in the “crowd” towards the entrance to Toy Story Land (I say “crowd” because it was more of a group than a crowd). Cast members were standing outside so that people couldn’t get back to the land until 7:30. About 7:20, they actually allowed everyone to go back to Toy Story Land. Most everyone went directly to Slinky Dog Dash. Our kids wanted to do the Alien Swirling Saucers, so we obliged.

The cast members actually told us we could stay on and ride the Swirling Saucers again because there was no one else in line. But we went to Toy Story Mania next. Here’s a quick video of my son running through the line.
There was NOT A SINGLE PERSON ON THE RIDE! It was just us! When we got to the end, they asked if we wanted to stay on and go again!
It was a bit erie to be on a ride with no one else. But we were not complaining. By the time our kids decided it was time to ride Slinky Dog Dash (at 7:49 AM), the wait time was estimated at 20 minutes. We got in line and continuously moved. I’d say we waited closer to 10-15 minutes, not 20. *UPDATE– We looked at the time stamp from the following picture and the time stamp of the picture I took of my husband and son getting on the coaster and only 11 minutes had passed. So even though the wait time said 20, it was actually 11!
We continued to ride Slinky Dog Dash over and over….to the point we lost count how many times we rode it. Towards 9am, the “line” to Slinky Dog Dash was non-existent. We’d get off and go around to get back in line and just walk right up to the cast member assigning you to a stall.
This is what a 10 minute line for Slinky Dog Dash looks like!
Just to give a little perspective. The following pictures were taken within 8 minutes of each other. I took the first picture as we got in line to ride Slinky Dog and took the second picture after we got off the ride…..right as the park opened to the public.
We also met Buzz (twice). The boys were not as interested in meeting Woody and Jesse, but the line to meet them was so small. If meeting the characters is your priority, Early Morning Magic is the time to do it!
Oh, I almost forgot, they had a table with coffee and water right outside of Woody’s Lunchbox to get refills while enjoying the rides! Did I also mention that breakfast went until 10am? So after the crowds arrived in Toy Story Land (at 9am on the dot), we headed to see the rest of the park. Right before 10am, we stopped by the Commissary to get a quick refill on coffee and the cast members all asked us if we wanted more breakfast. They even told us to take pastries to snack on later! We refilled our boys’ milk cups and we got more coffee right before they closed it up.
If you showed up at 6:30, had breakfast, rode rides and then back for seconds right before 10am, you could essentially get two meals out of your Early Morning Magic!
If you are considering Early Morning Magic, I would HIGHLY recommend it! If ridning Slinky Dog Dash is on your to-do list, just a reminder, this is what the line normally looks like! In the time it took for people to stand in this line, we rode Slinky Dog at least 10 times, Swirling Saucers a handful of times, Toy Story Mania three times, ate breakfast, met Buzz twice and refilled our drinks!
[…] Certain Mondays and Wednesdays, you can get into Toy Story Land, ride all the rides (Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania), meet the characters (Buzz, Woody and Jesse) AND have breakfast at Woody’s Lunchbox. The limited-access pass gets you in at 7:30 AM and breakfast is served until 10AM. You must have a ticket to the park in addition to the ticket for the Early Morning Magic. It is kinda like extra magic hours, but you only have access to Toy Story Land AND it includes breakfast. Read my FULL REVIEW of Early Morning Magic HERE. […]
