Hello Beautiful!! I’m super excited to share this summer wreath tutorial with you guys today. Wreaths are one of my absolute favorite things to make. Just check out my magnolia wreath, DIY fall wreath and twig and moss wreath. Seriously- I love making wreaths. One of the main reasons I like making wreaths so much is that it is a creative expression that I place on my front door to welcome guests to my home. Your front door is your first impression to guests, so make a welcoming statement.
This summer wreath certainly makes a statement. I love the casual feeling of “hello” over a formal welcome in the summer. Summer is a time for pool parties, riding bikes, playing outside and socializing with neighbors. The casual “hello” just seems more appropriate in the summer.
- Grapevine Wreath
- 3 bunches of tulips
- 1 bunch of peonies
- Hello cutout
- Floral wire
How to make a Hello Summer Wreath
Begin by cutting your stems with wire snips. I cut each peony stem off at the bottom where it attached to the bunch. This will give you the longest stem possible to manipulate in the grapevine wreath. You can always trim long stems of later, but if you don’t have a long enough stem, you might need to hot glue the stem to the wreath.
I cut the tulips in little bunches. Start assembling the wreath by sticking the stems in to the grapevine wreath. I pushed the stems in at an angle so the flowers weren’t sticking straight up.
Work with your flowers and manipulate them to look how you want.
Next, turn the wreath over and using floral wire, wrap the stems together in bunches and secure the stems to the grapevine wreath using the floral wire. If you want to skip this step, you can always hot glue the flowers to the grapevine wreath. I prefer to use floral wire in case I want to change out the flowers or reuse the grapevine wreath.
Paint the “Hello” cutout. I used pink acrylic paint and used three coats, allowing time to dry in between coats.
Hot glue the cutout onto the top of the wreath.
This wreath is so feminine, casual, and down right pretty. I love how it turned out. My favorite part is the “hello” cutout. I purchased it from one of my favorite Etsy shops, Crazy Cutouts.
About a week after I made this wreath, Country Living posted an article on DIY summer wreaths. Although my wreath was not featured, some of the elements I included in my wreath are featured in the post!
I have this on my front door right now. It is such a beautiful and welcoming sight to see it as you come up the driveway. There’s nothing better than welcoming guests with a big hello!

I love this wreath, the pinks of the tulips contrasting to the brown twigs is just so perfect.
