How to Put Ribbon on a Christmas Tree
As I was putting my tree up this year, I found myself dissatisfied with the placement and look of the ribbon I was using. It just didn’t look right. I had a long thick ribbon that I was trying to twirl around the tree and it looked awkward and not at all magazine-worthy. In my quest to make my tree look pretty, I discovered that I was putting ribbon on my Christmas tree ALL WRONG!
Yup- I was doing it wrong and once I figured it out, I had to write about it to tell you how I made my tree look so pretty with ribbon cascading through it.
The secret is to use small strips of ribbon in different sizes and colors. It is that SIMPLE! Instead of trying to wrap one long strand of ribbon around your tree, cut smaller pieces. Here’s what I did. I cut various lengths (from 1 foot to 3 feet) in three different ribbons. Then take one end of a piece and shove it way back in the branches. You can then twist or twirl the ribbon and then shove the other end way far in the branches. Working with smaller pieces of ribbon made it SO much easier to achieve the look I wanted.
I loved mixing up the three different ribbons on my tree this year. My neighbor came by and even commented on my ribbon placement. By cutting the pieces and using various colors and width of ribbons, you can create a magazine-worthy Christmas tree.
