All you need is love…and one reusable stencil to create these four completely different projects! It is almost Valentines Day, so today I am sharing how to create four different projects using the Love transfer from Chalk Couture.
If you don’t know about Chalk Couture. START HERE. The brief version: Chalk Couture is a DIY company which makes reusable, self-adhesive, silkscreen stencils, removable chalk paste and permanent ink. The stencils can be used with either the ink or the chalk paste to create beautiful handmade items on virtually any surface.

Love- Reusable Stencil
I wanted to show the versatility of this love stencil, so I used it on four different surfaces, using different colors and techniques. The great thing about using the Chalkology Chalk Paste, is that you can use it on all kinds of surfaces. I used the paste on a chalkboard, tin sign, glass and a canvas!

Chalk Board
The first project I did was on a chalkboard. This particular chalkboard is a Chalk Couture surface. The 5.5 x 7.5 board and base! This is a super-affordable, double-sided chalkboard that can be used horizontally or vertically. I created the ombre effect by using three different colors on the reusable stencil. I began with white at the top, cherry blossom in the middle and then candy apple red on the bottom. To blend the three colors, I simply used my finger. Watch the video above to see how I did it!
Picture Frame
I also added the word love to our wedding picture. I absolutely love how this turned out! We were given this frame with our photo from our wedding day more than seven years ago. I simply applied white paste to the transfer and viola! Now we have a custom-looking frame! Chalk paste on glass looks fantastic and is super easy to apply. It is also very simple to remove. Glass is one of those surfaces that you simply need to use a damp paper towel or baby wipe to remove the chalk paste!
Tin Tag
The candy apple red paste absolutely pops on this tin tag! This would be perfect to include on top of a wedding gift or even on the backs of chairs at a wedding reception! You could use any color (to match wedding colors) to create a customized and handmade decoration. Because the stencils are reusable, you only need to invest in one stencil! ooohhhh…how about a DIY wedding favor!? You could write a thank you message with the date on the back and give one to each guest!
Reverse Canvas
Reverse canvases are so popular right now! My local craft store is now selling reverse canvas kits! PS: you do not need to spend more money on a reverse canvas kit- just buy a regular stretched canvas and make your own. Read here to learn how to make a reverse canvas. Or watch the 2 minute video above and see how I do it!
I have found that working with chalk paste works great on canvas. I prefer the chalk paste over ink on canvas. Keep in mind, the paste will not wipe off of canvas like it does on hard surfaces. This will be permanent.
Usually, I would remove the canvas before decorating, but after lots of trial and error, I have found that chalking the canvas BEFORE removing the frame produces much better results. So chalk, remove the frame, stain the frame, staple the canvas back on the frame and then trim off the excess canvas! It is that simple!
